Jan 14, 2006· If you go onto Ebay.ca, and search on belt grinders, there is a guy selling a 2X72, that is homemade, has wooden wheels, no motor, for @$230 Canadian. From the pics, it doesn't look too bad, can be adapted to grind in a number of different ways.
Belt grinder prices do not include motor. No pulley included. Smooth contact wheel only available. Pulley selection now available. The machine's design and construction lends itself to modification to suit specialty needs. Coote's are cool, but after really examining it, I realized its really just a nicely put together Grizzly G1015 aka a two wheeled Burr-King clone. So i took the bait and ran with it.
G1015 Grizzly Knife Belt Sander / Buffer. A very nice grinder. I used the 1X 30 for 3+ years until a bearing went out. I used is as an excuse to go ahead a purchase the 2x72. I am very happy with the new machine, much faster and more precise. The belts are a bit more expensive but they should last longer.
