Jan 31, 2020· Grinding stones, cutoff wheels, flap discs, paint strippers, etc., I usually start with a common grinding stone. I like to start with a new stone if I am going to end up with square corners or older stones if the corners will be rounded. I remove probably 80-90% of the weld with that stone. Anywhere I can reach.

I prefer not to grind a weld if it is not necessary. If the weld has to be blended, I like flap disks like George. For heavy removal, a 36-grit disk on the 4.5 or 7 inch grinder. For welds that need to be dressed for appearance, but are in places where you can't get a disk on them, I like die grinders.
